Let me preface this 5-star review by saying that it's a little biased. We were zipping up Western Ave on the way home from having some Korean BBQ and randomly decided to stop at HK Market because the parking lot looked big and convenient. We were inspired by our lunch and wanted some kimchee and Korean pastries for later. Long story short, when we got home I realized I didn't have my wallet! I took a leap of faith and decided to call the market. They answered promptly and after just a couple minutes of getting on the same page, they confirmed my wallet had been found!!! I drove back and they were so nice when they returned it to me. But even before that ordeal, I have to say that my experience there was really good. They had everything I was looking for. Plus, the cashier was actually friendly and welcoming despite me not being Korean. This market is definitely very local and no-frills. This ain't no big, national H-Mart. Still, don't judge a book by its cover. If you've ever been to a 99 Ranch or Seafood City, you'll comfortably navigate this place. If you do, you'll find all the Korean delights you could ever dream of.

I stopped in here basically just to explore to see what the market was all about and what items were of interest and just kinda see what was available to me from the Asian Food. As typical very challenging to get any help in an Asian market secondary to language barriers. I thought the fish section was amazing. Saw some really good things that I definitely know I would want to purchase and cook. . I thought the produce was OK. It wasn't as bountiful as one would imagine but it's not the biggest Asian market in Los Angeles area but it definitely has what you would need. . Overall, I thought it was pretty cool . I picked up a few items non-perishable because I wasn't going back to the house right away . But I could definitely see myself coming over and getting some fish for dinner .

My favorite no-frills Korean grocery store with great prices and variety. With an outdoor parking lot. The storefront may look a little dated on the outside, but they have great products for great prices. Their banchans and packed dishes are always well seasoned and affordable. But the star of the show here is their taiyaki and fried chicken station in the back of the store. Freshly made by Korean aunties. It's cash only! And sometimes there's a wait, but it's so worth it. Only $2 for a fresh taiyaki! You can't get a better deal than this.

Great Asian grocery store with a lot of fresh veggies, pretty good seafood section, and incredibly narrow isles. If I lived nearby this would definitely be a go-to for me. As it is, unsure if it's worth the trek.

HK Market: A Friendly Korean Supermarket in LA HK Market stands out among the many Korean supermarkets in LA for its friendly atmosphere. From the warm, welcoming greeting upon entry to the helpful cashiers and baggers, the staff provides a pleasant shopping experience. This market offers a vast selection of Korean groceries, including house-made banchan (side dishes) - some with MSG and some without. They also have a well-stocked refrigerated section and a hot food section with prepared dishes like purple rice, fish cakes, and potato salad. For a sit-down meal, HK Market has one restaurant and a takeaway restaurant in the back which is cash only. One of the restaurants is serving hot stone soup, kimbap, among other things, and the takeaway spot, specializes in red bean pancakes, roasted sweet potatoes, and Korean fried chicken wings. With ample parking available, HK Market is a convenient destination for both grocery shopping and enjoying a delicious Korean meal.

Always stop her to shop for Korean groceries or new yummy things. The vegetable/fruit section is great and they always have a great variety of items that are fresh. The staff is super helpful and always can find what you are looking for. The lines for check out move pretty quickly so no issues there. Always a great time and finding something new each trip

HK Market is the OG market in K-town. Before H-Mart, Zion, California, Galleria market were around this place was it! Apparently they haven't renovated since the 80s and it shows! My mom said she use to bring me here when I was little. I don't remember that, but I do remember HK ( Han Kook) market in the early 2000s use to be open till 3am or 4am, but that's no longer the case. Now the market closes at 10 pm sharp. I prefer HK Market in the area because parking is better then the other Korean markets around, prices are better, great produce section with overall large product availability. Not to mention that there is a fried chicken grandma vendor in the back that does chicken right! I love her!! If you don't mind an outdated store, this market is great! Just remember this isn't H-Mart (which I love) it's an old school market in k-town and am so happy it's still around!

Remember when we were kids growing up in LA together? HK Market was a BIG part of our childhood. Our friends taught us how to make homemade Korean food and sushi rolls so we could afford to eat the amazing meals that roll out of here daily. I have a picture somewhere of me as a teenager holding my first homemade platter of kimbap and California rolls while being hugged by my beloved foster sisters and neighbors originally from Japan and Korea. I want to thank the owners and staff members of HK market for being there for so many special occasions and homemade family meals over the years.:) After you enter the market, check out the flyers for Korean events and services adorning the bulletin board on your left. Korean small businesses and vendors, add your businesses and services on Yelp! Yelpers love to support the Asian community and small businesses! On your right, peruse the specialty vendors, hot and tasty treats, premier imported skin products and customer service. Continue to the eastern end of the market and grab a family-sized box of Korean pears, Hawaiian papaya, mangoes, persimmons, or whatever is on sale and in season. HK market has a huge fresh produce section with many hard-to-find items! Stock up on Thai chilies, Chinese celery, Japanese eggplant, Korean radishes, Vietnamese fresh herbs, fresh ube, Kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, taro root, mung bean sprouts, tumeric, shitaki mushrooms, shiso leaves, bitter melon, gai lan, and much more. This market has an excellent selection of meat, fish and poultry. You can buy an inexpensive whole fish, with more than a dozen varieties to choose from. Some favorites include silky chicken, softshell crabs, cuttlefish, paper thin cuts of beef, pork bellies, and whatever the friendly fish guys recommend to me. Thanks! High-end sushi-grade fish, roe, urchin, is available at the northwest corner of the market as well as small well-packaged ready-to-eat items. Some favorites include mung bean pancakes, pickled radish, seaweed salad, and cooked yam. Center aisles are loaded with non-perishable items. Instant, glass, rice, soba, buckwheat, and tapioca noodles. Jasmine, matcha, corn silk, barley, chrysanthemum and many other teas. Rice wine vinegar, rock sugar, banana sauce, wasabi, dried mushrooms, tapioca, potato and glutinous rice flour, nutritious breakfast porridges, sauces and condiments, you can find a nice variety of imported food from Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, Guam, Singapore, China and beyond. When I was a kid, I absolutely loved sushi, but I couldn't afford to go to sushi restaurants. My neighbors and this market really helped me and my family during those tough times. We had some great meals together. During the pandemic, HK market delivered my favorite carts of food, including many sale items which I'll be forever grateful for. Recently, my HK market has been helping me make a special tribute to Monterey Park, 11 uniquely different varieties of Asian cuisines, made with love for our beloved Asian community. I posted some cool pictures of the food we made together from this market on Instagram. Many thanks to HK market for helping our families make great meals together. To the staff, the butchers, management, cashiers and fellow friendly family shoppers, I am one of your biggest fans.:)
